Golf Courses
The Greenbrier features five outstanding golf courses. The Old White TPC Course hosts The Greenbrier Classic, home of the PGA Tour Fed Ex Cup Event. The Old White TPC is the first course built at the Greenbrier in 1914 and earned its name after the Old White Hotel, which was on the property from 1858 – 1922. The Old White TPC was designed by C.B. Macdonald and plays 7,287 yards and a par of 70 from the championship tees. Stuart Appleby set the course record at the 2010 PGA Greenbrier Classic when he shot 59.
The Greenbrier course was built in 1924 by Seth Raynor and redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 1977. The Greenbrier course hosted championship events such as the 1979 Ryder Cup Matches and 1994 Solheim Cup Matches. The Greenbrier course travels through wooded areas with strategically placed bunkers. The challenging layout plays to a par 72 and 6,675 yards from the back tees.
The Meadows course is designed by Dick Wilson and Bob Cupp. The Meadows plays to a par 70 and stretches to 6,660 yards from the championship set of tees. The Meadows course is a popular venue for many regional and state championships. Many guests consider Meadows the most scenic and beautiful course on the property.
Located just a few miles off the property guests will find Oakhurst Links, the oldest course in America. Oakhurst was built in 1884 and features a 30-acre course, museum and clubhouse that is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Guests play Oakhurst Links with hickory shafted clubs, gutta-percha balls and sand-based tees.
The Snead Course opened in 2004 and is the only private course available for members of the Greenbrier Sporting Club. Named after legendary Golf Professional Sam Snead, the Snead course was voted #3 Best New Private Golf Courses in America. Tom Fazio designed the par 71 Snead Course that plays 7,025 from the back tees.
